Hand-painted banners, and a pipeline for commissioning them
A portfolio for a working artist, built around a gallery with a lightbox and a commission request form. The form is the point: it writes to a database first so no enquiry can be lost, then emails the artist with the customer set as reply-to, so answering a commission is a single tap.
It also taught me to distrust a successful-looking send. The email provider returns a 200 with a message id even when it silently discards a recipient, so the notification path now checks the response body and blind-copies a second mailbox — the only way to tell delivery from silence.
